My Black History Month Experiment

Speaker(s): Derek Walker

Time: 12:00pm | Room: Hub

For Black History Month, I posted a profile of a different Black advertising professional each day. And it took off! What started as a Black History Month experiment, turned into a full-blown conversation on diversity & inclusion, that was covered by Adweek duplicated by another advertising professional in Canada. Derek will focus on the unspoken idea that senior-level and above Black advertising professionals are not "talented enough;" "creative enough;" "experienced enough;" "smart enough."

I'm a copywriter who happens to own a tiny advertising agency. This copywriter part is important, I am and always will be a creative. Yes, writing is an artform. And yet, I suck at writing about myself, that's not my job. My job is to tell you about my clients. I like to think I'm pretty good at that. Or at least that's what my mom told me.
